Patient Care Tech (PCT) / Neuroscience Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Tech collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They perform tasks such as checking vital signs, helping patients move around, getting dressed, eating, collecting samples, reporting changes in a patient's condition, walking, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), weighing patients, and taking vitals.

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs, including temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
• Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
• Collect samples like urine.
• Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
• Walk, assist with ADLs, weigh patients; take vitals.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
• Direct patient care experience within the last five years, including performing fundamental skills of vital signs and direct patient care activities.
• Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.
• If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training upon completion of successful skills validation.

Qualifications

• Can handle multiple tasks simultaneously and remain courteous.
• Proficient in using computers.
• Good organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills (both speaking and listening).
• Bonus: Previous hospital experience.
