About the Role

The Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients while integrating company values into daily practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, and specimen collections.
  • Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
  • Reports any changes observed in patient condition or behavior to appropriate nursing personnel.
  • Assists in preparing unit, patient rooms, and beds for admissions.
  • Maintains bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner.
  • Removes unused supplies and equipment to ensure a safe, organized environment.
  • Adheres to patient rounding expectations and standards.
  • Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to patient comfort and healing.
  • Responds promptly and appropriately to patient and family calls and requests.
  • Designates applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and staffing emergencies.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by assessing risks and implementing precautions.
  • Complies with safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with the assigned work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting required; inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Current state CNA certification required.
  • CPR certification required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics.
  • General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Critical thinking and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection prevention standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods.
  • Both gross and precise motor functions.
  • Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
  • Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboards.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
