About the Role
The Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients while integrating company values into daily practice.
Responsibilities
- Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
- Performs and documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, and specimen collections.
- Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
- Reports any changes observed in patient condition or behavior to appropriate nursing personnel.
- Assists in preparing unit, patient rooms, and beds for admissions.
- Maintains bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner.
- Removes unused supplies and equipment to ensure a safe, organized environment.
- Adheres to patient rounding expectations and standards.
- Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to patient comfort and healing.
- Responds promptly and appropriately to patient and family calls and requests.
- Designates applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and staffing emergencies.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by assessing risks and implementing precautions.
- Complies with safety and Infection Prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with the assigned work schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall organizational effectiveness.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- 2 years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting required; inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
- Current state CNA certification required.
- CPR certification required.
Skills
- Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics.
- General computer skills, including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Critical thinking and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection prevention standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods.
- Both gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboards.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
