PRIMARY PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversees the overall function of the Breast Health Center, including, but not limited to, patient flow, patient satisfaction, completion of necessary forms and paperwork, compliance with all applicable regulations, and overall quality of examinations.
  • Fulfills all responsibilities of a Mammography Technologist as a working Supervisor.
  • Schedules personnel to provide appropriate staffing in the BHC.
  • Denotes “essential functions” in accordance with the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment, and uses radiation protection according to department policy and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with the organization’s ALARA program.
  • Ensures quality of images produced to be consistent with the Radiologist’s and organization’s quality expectations.
  • Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
  • Trains and performs stereotactic localization procedures, as directed by the Radiologist.
  • Maintains working knowledge and operative skills related to the registration/information system, the picture archiving system, and the digital mammography features.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with procedure and consults with physicians, as needed.
  • Participates in training co-workers and technologists in mammography equipment operation, patient positioning, and quality assurance.
  • Maintains all MQSA and ACR records on this equipment.
  • Enhances professional growth through educational programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees, as requested.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs related work, as required.
  • Develops additional skills related to mammography.
  • Maintains ample waiting room seating for patients by asking visitors to relocate to alternate waiting areas.
  • Maintains open communication with the Administrator and Human Resources.

Required Skills

  • Minimum Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • Modality Experience Required: Mammography
  • Certifications Required: ARRT (M), plus State of CA license & BLS
