About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Measuring and documenting vital signs
• Identifying patient concerns and reporting them to colleagues
• Moving, turning or relocating patients as required for their comfort and medical requirements

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support required upon hire
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing "pinching" operations, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, performing firm grasping with fingers and hands, performing fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, maintaining 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, seeing and recognizing objects close at hand or at a distance, matching or discriminating between colors, determining distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, maintaining peripheral vision capabilities, maintaining hearing acuity, with correction, performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, dealing effectively with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, working overtime as required, working in a latex safe environment, maintaining tactile sensory functions, maintaining good olfactory sensory function, being qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
