About the Role
Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to acutely ill patients, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the nursing staff. Performs other duties as assigned within educational preparation and certification. Any position involving direct patient care is considered safety-sensitive by AVEM Health Partners standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population.
- Delivers patient care that meets psychosocial and physical needs within the PCT's scope of practice.
- Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Helps patients complete activities of daily living (e.g., personal hygiene, dressing, eating, maintaining continence, transferring/mobility), with the level of assistance varying from providing supplies to total care.
- Distributes drinking water and snacks to patients as applicable.
- Answers patients' call lights, anticipates patients' needs, and makes rounds of assigned patients.
- Reports patient complaints of pain to nursing staff and observes patients' mental and physical conditions, reporting any changes.
- Applies infection prevention and control procedures.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Ensures the patient’s room is clean and pathways are clear to prevent injuries.
- Communicates clearly and concisely with nursing and medical staff.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations.
- Documents care according to current standards and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Current CNA certification in the state of Oklahoma.
- Current BLS certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- One (1) year of clinical experience preferred.

- Intact visual and auditory abilities to perform duties.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Constant standing and walking required.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, tugging, and reaching required.
- Physical strength and agility to position patients for bathing and various examinations/procedures.
