Job Summary
The Patient Care Tech is responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, and maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Helps surgical patients through their inpatient stay
- Provides basic care needs
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment
- Performs standard clinical procedures according to established protocols
- Maintains quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
- Adapts to change quickly and understands principles of aseptic technique
Requirements
- High School Graduate/GED
- Previous CNA experience
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant license
- Current CPR certification
- Safe operation of wheelchair and ability to assist patients
- Knowledgeable in taking vital signs, providing personal care, and ambulating patients
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Physical demands include walking, standing, opening doors, carrying packages, and helping patients safely enter a vehicle
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in patient care charts and histories
- Interviewing skills
- Ability to perform routine invasive procedures
- Understanding of aseptic techniques
