Patient Care Tech

About the Role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) functions as a nursing assistant in performing duties as assigned by the RN. This is a full-time, day-shift position (7a-7p) on the 4C Medical unit.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and measurements (e.g., heights, weights, head circumference).
• Provide or assist with basic care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Assist with ED/clinic visits, patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Complete patient care tasks (e.g., I&Os, ADLs) safely, efficiently, and timely as delegated by licensed nursing staff; document care per department guidelines.
• Communicate patient/family information, needs, and requests to the healthcare team to individualize the patient plan of care.
• Act as a courier between ancillary departments to meet unit/department requirements.
• Perform clerical duties, including receptionist tasks, telephone management, supply/equipment procurement, and creating admission/informational packets.
• Organize, clean, and restock patient supplies and equipment for optimal cost-effectiveness and availability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• 1 year of experience in a related field, as a technician, or completion of a semester of healthcare curriculum (recommended).
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Registered Medical Assistant (recommended).

Pay

Most new hires start between $15.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
