About the Role

Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader with hospitals in Dover and Milford, as well as stand-alone Emergency Department in Smyrna and a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care in Milton. We offer various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. Our Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore. Our Sussex Campus is 30 minutes to the Delaware beaches.

Location: Smyrna Primary Care, Diagnostic Imaging, and Emergency. Status: Per Diem (0 Hours). Shift: Day/Evening.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
  • Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
  • Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
  • Registered Nurse credential.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • ACLS/PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
  • Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe as indicated during the interview.
  • Emergency Room experience (required).
  • 2 years critical care experience (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Certification related to the position, if applicable.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course Certification.

Pay

Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly.
