About the Role

Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader, with hospitals in Dover and Milford, stand-alone Emergency Departments in Smyrna and Milton, and various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. The Sussex Campus is 30 minutes from the Delaware beaches, and the Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore.

This is a full-time position requiring 72 hours per pay period, with a day shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
  • Demonstrate standards of excellence, including practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
  • Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (for RN evaluation).
  • Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (for RN evaluation).
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
  • Registered Nurse credential.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
  • Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe indicated during the interview.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Certification related to the position, if applicable.
  • Experience in a relevant specialty.

Pay

Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly.
