Patient Care Nursing Assistant - Colorectal Surgery
About the role
The H50 nursing unit for Colorectal Surgery is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease Institute, which has been ranked second in the nation. Our unit collaborates with 16 colorectal surgeons to provide world-class medical and surgical care to patients with conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, and genetic bowel diseases.
Responsibilities
- Taking vital signs and weight
- Aiding patients with personal care
- Performing point of care testing
- Caregiving for dressing changes and applying external monitoring devices
- Removing urinary Foley Catheters under supervision
- Reporting any abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to an RN
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (within new hire period)
- Nursing students must have BLS certification through AHA or American Red Cross before hire
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) is preferred
Qualifications
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Certification
- Physical Requirements: Full body motion, lifting, standing, walking, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination
- Physical Demand: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a compassionate approach to patient care are essential.

Pay
Pay Range Minimum: $18.25 per hour
Pay Range Maximum: $24.95 per hour
Schedule
Full-time evening/night rotations from 7:00pm to 7:30am or 11:00pm to 7:30am.
