Patient Care Nurse Assistant- 4 East Med Surg Overflow; 48hrs Biweekly, Day Night

About the role

The Acute Care Adult Medical Surgical and Surgical Overflow Unit, 4 East, is part of the MetroHealth System. Located at MetroHealth Main Campus, this unit operates on a bi-weekly schedule with 48-hour shifts, rotating between day and night shifts, and includes weekends and holidays.

Primary Patient Population

• Inpatient Medical
• Post-Surgical Orthopedic Care
• Spinal Surgery Recovery
• Trauma Overflow

Primary Skills Utilized/Learned

• Absorbing and following patient care instructions
• Assisting with personal hygiene, eating, and drinking
• Taking vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight
• Providing comfort measures using pressure relieving devices, ROM activities, and simple protective dressings

Personnel RN

• Works with LPNs, RNs, Nurse Interns, Providers, PTs, and OTs
• Number of beds on the unit: 34 (14 private rooms, 20 semi-private rooms)

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or high school equivalency exam completion
• Ability to work in a team environment with good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and effective problem-solving skills
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered in good standing as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Nurse Aide Registry (optional after employment)
• One year of experience as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant in a hospital
