Patient Care Associate / Patient Care Tech - 6D Neuro Intermediate

About the role

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, you will assist in the individualized care of patients to achieve their highest level of wellness, work cooperatively as part of a team, and perform designated clinical procedures and non‑clinical support tasks essential to patient care. The position is on 6D, an intermediate ICU (Progressive Care Unit) with a 16‑bed fully monitored unit providing high‑acuity care to critically ill post‑operative trauma, stroke, and medical overflow patients. Common therapies include lumbar drain management, external ventricular drain management, antidysrhythmic/calcium channel blocking drips, low‑dose vasopressors, BiPAP and high‑flow oxygen systems, insulin drips, and Precedex. 6D works closely with the Cardiovascular PCU, offers cross‑training opportunities, and is part of the Critical Care Cluster. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• CNA/CPTC certification
• Enrolled in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum
• Current Mercy coworker

Requirements

• No prior experience required; if none, Mercy provides a 175‑hour state‑approved training program completed within 90 days of hire
• BLS certification required within one month of hire
• Completion of PCA competencies within three months of hire
• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
