About the role
The Patient Care Associate plays a crucial role in the clinical care team, focusing on patient care and support activities aimed at enhancing patient-focused care within the Specialty Service.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive services to patients in assigned areas (inpatient units, emergency department, surgical services, ICU).
- Participates in patient admission and orientation, gathering and recording relevant data.
- Assists patients with changing, securing valuables, reviewing unit rules, and providing orientation to their room and unit.
- Maintains the nursing care plan, interdisciplinary treatment team plan, and implements therapeutic interventions as outlined.
- Performs direct care duties including therapeutic interventions, vital sign monitoring, specimen collection, personal hygiene, activities of daily living, performing procedures, EKGs, finger sticks, and participating in house-wide ambulation and shower programs.
- Organizes activities for multiple patients, communicates effectively, collaborates, and functions as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years current experience as a PCA/CNA preferred or equivalent medical assistant, phlebotomy, finger stick, and EKG skills.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in interactions with patients and families.
