Patient Care Assistant, Ortho/Neuro

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant position at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center is a full-time, 12-hour shift role located in the Ortho/Neuro Unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities of daily living for patients as per the competency checklist under the supervision of licensed personnel.
• Recognizes and reports changing patient care needs to the registered nurse.
• Documents findings and maintains patient privacy in the medical record in compliance with unit standards and systems.
• Provides emotional and physical comfort to patients and ensures a safe environment for them.
• Maintains department equipment, reports and follows up on equipment needing repair.

Requirements

• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting, or Nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester.
• A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
• A high school diploma or equivalency, and basic computer knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen.

Skills

Basic computer knowledge is preferred.

Pay

The starting pay range for this position is $23.73/hr - $26.97/hr, with an additional $1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon meeting employment requirements.
