Patient Care Assistant - 4 Acute Care Ortho and Neuro
Location: Hershey, PA
Full-time, 0.90 FTE, night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with a $2.50/hour night shift differential. This position operates on a self-scheduling model, allowing employees to select their own weekday shifts while meeting unit staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, and high-demand periods.
About the role
As an essential member of the health care team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care, maintain awareness of patient population needs, and prioritize care in collaboration with nursing staff. You will assist the team in meeting patient and family goals under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
All Patient Care Assistants (PCA) receive an additional $1.00/hour for their PA Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
Department
This 48-bed acute care unit serves patients across various medical and surgical specialties, including neurosciences, orthopedics, otolaryngology, and reconstructive surgery. The unit also includes four state-of-the-art epilepsy monitoring beds. Special training and competencies are provided in trauma, stroke, and epilepsy care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care.
- Maintain awareness of patient population needs and scheduling requirements.
- Communicate consistently with nursing staff regarding assigned patients.
- Prioritize patient care in collaboration with the health care team.
- Assist in meeting patient and family goals.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) months of patient care-related experience.
