Patient Care Assistant Inpatient Rehab
Part-time, night-shift position in the Inpatient Rehab department at Chelsea Hospital in Chelsea, MI.
About the Role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA), under the direction of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. Responsibilities include assisting in maintaining a clean, safe, and patient/family-centered care environment and supporting relationship-based care principles. Training is provided to ensure success.
The Inpatient Rehab units at Chelsea Hospital care for patients requiring comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation after traumatic brain injuries, cerebral vascular accidents, amputations, debility, polytrauma, or spinal cord injuries. This collaborative program between Chelsea Hospital and University of Michigan Health is staffed by award-winning rehab physicians, nurses, therapists, and specialists. The unit has recently expanded to 40 beds and now accepts higher-acuity patients. Chelsea Hospital is also a participating site in the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Model System.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation using assistive devices.
- Support patients with feeding and menu selection.
- Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Recent experience desired.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; mechanical assistance provided for weights exceeding 35 pounds.
- Weekend and holiday commitments required.

Schedule
- Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
- Status: Part-time, benefit-eligible (40 hours per pay period, every two weeks).
