Hiring range: $16.80 - $21.83/hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Schedule
Full time, nights available (7pm-7am).
Responsibilities
- Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of patients and their environment, including those needing special precautions.
- Performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency, including:
- Simple wound care (e.g., cleaning of abrasions/lacerations).
- EKGs.
- Peripheral INT removal.
- Basic phlebotomy.
- Extremity splinting.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the assigned unit.
- Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and provides care as described in departmental policy and procedure.
- Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
- Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
- Follows the plan of care to perform treatments and procedures competently/independently under the direction of an RN, including:
- Vital signs.
- Ice application and compresses.
- EKGs.
- Drawing blood and specimen collection.
- Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) to support positive patient outcomes.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment, stocking supplies, and placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Takes direction from the charge nurse to assist with admitting, discharging, or transferring patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- 1 year of prior healthcare experience in a hospital setting (preferred).
Qualifications
- CPR/BLS Certification from American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) upon hire (required).
- Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) from Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP).
- In lieu of CNA certification, will accept:
- EMT-B (Basic) from the Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA).
- Medical Assistant Program Graduate.
- Currently enrolled in LPN or RN diploma or degree program with at least 80 clinical hours completed.
