About the role
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides continuous observation and personalized care for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Responsibilities
- Maintain one-on-one monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and well-being.
- Implement evidence-based de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Assist with direct patient care tasks such as taking vital signs and transporting patients.
- Stock linens and supplies, document observations and interventions accurately in electronic records, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Alert nursing staff to any changes in patient condition and maintain a calm, professional demeanor.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to patient observation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
Skills
- Preferred: at least one year of healthcare experience and familiarity with medical terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) preferred.
This position requires onsite presence with variable days, focusing on patient safety, observation, and direct care responsibilities.
