Patient Care Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assists, supports, and provides direct care to patients under the direction of the licensed nurse.
• Assists with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, feeding and ambulation.
• Obtains vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy and blood glucose.
• Documents and reports results to licensed nurse.
• Provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Performs clerical functions including initiating, directing and receiving telephone calls, preparing, printing and scanning various patient reports and medical record information to internal and external departments and facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Current CNA license in state of Rhode Island.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.
