Patient Care Assistant

Responsibilities

• Aids in patient care including data collection, oral care, bathing, and assistance with ambulation and toileting.
• Participates in quality patient care delivery, efficient patient flow, and effective communication with the health care team.
• Records and reports observations of patients, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, daily intake and output, and pain.
• Transports patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Aids in preparing patients for treatment and examination.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide care in emergency situations and safely use equipment and supplies.
• Obtains non-narcotic medications from the pharmacy as needed by RNs or physicians.

Qualifications

• Current BLS (American Heart Association) Certification.
• CNA preferred.
• 6 months previous experience as a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant or completion of the first quarter of an RN or LVN nursing education program.
