About the Role
This position assists management in overseeing departmental operations, including mentoring employees as a quality improvement coordinator. Responsibilities encompass ensuring accurate completion of registration, monitoring and correcting reports, maintaining data integrity, handling escalated issues, scheduling staff, and providing training and education.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Completes quality reviews and identifies process improvement opportunities.
- Calculates error percentages for key elements, tracks, and reports to management.
- Participates in departmental educational initiatives.
- Maintains knowledge of processes and systems by attending update meetings and training; represents the department in meetings as needed.
- Gathers, prepares, and analyzes operations reports, corrects errors to ensure accurate billing, and develops staff schedules for optimal coverage.
- Interacts with staff at all levels to resolve issues.
- Monitors assigned reports for data integrity, researches, and corrects accounts as required.
- Protects the financial integrity of the facility by ensuring accuracy across all departmental functions.
- Participates in preparation and presentation of department staff meetings, education, and in-services.
- Monitors, reviews, and resolves patient account issues; performs account analysis and trending.
- Communicates professionally with all Patient Access customers, including physicians, care management, ancillary departments, nursing units, and physicians’ office staff.
- Supports HR processes, including coaching, mentoring, handling performance issues, enforcing HR policies, and participating in hiring recommendations.
- Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards.
- Promotes professional growth and development through continuing education, skills competency, and mentorship of less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to compassionate and personalized care for every community member.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting preferred.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Proficient typing/keyboarding skills.
- Supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred.
