Patient Billing Specialist / Collections
About the role
The Patient Advocate Representative plays a key role in supporting patients with account balances, addressing billing inquiries, and assisting with payment-related issues. This role demands attention to detail, excellent communication, and efficient handling of tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain productivity by meeting established daily call volume targets and ensuring timely, effective responses to patient inquiries.
- Respond to patient emails and messages through the in-house EMR system.
- Address patient inquiries regarding medical bills, statement issues, and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Verify account accuracy by identifying duplicate payments, posting errors, or corrections, and coordinate with A/R for necessary adjustments.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines in all patient communications and data handling.
- Educate patients on billing workflows and processes, maintaining high patient satisfaction.
- Negotiate balances and provide support to patients with concerns or grievances.
- Track high-balance or delinquent accounts, proactively reaching out to patients or responsible parties (RP) for payment arrangements.
Qualifications
- MUST HAVE: Collections or Medical Billing experience
- NextGen or Net Health systems experience (one or the other)
- AR experience is a nice to have

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
