Patient Assessment and Referral Services Clinician
Job Summary
The PARS (Patient Assessment and Referral Services) Clinician is responsible for aspects of both telephone and face-to-face crisis intervention/psychiatric triage, referral, and placement for behavioral health patients in the Emergency Department. They may conduct psychiatric assessments which include: history of present illness, family, development, social and medical history, mental status exam; and psychiatric diagnosis. In consultation with the on-call psychiatrist or Patient Logistics Center, the initial treatment plan, including level of care, is determined. They are also responsible for ongoing resource and referral development activities to ensure patients are referred to the appropriate level of care either within a behavioral health unit or within the community.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- 1-3 years experience is required, which can include a graduate level practicum. Experience must be focused in the area of inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, crisis prevention, or community based experience.
- Three years’ experience preferred working directly with psychiatric care patients with medical social worker or counseling knowledge.
- Master’s Degree is required from an accredited social work or counseling program.
- LCSW or LPC license required.
