About the role
This position involves patient transport duties at Aurora Medical Center. The role includes lifting and transporting patients, ensuring their comfort, and maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Lifts and transports patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, positioning and securing them using proper body mechanics.
- Ensures patient comfort by offering blankets and attending to their needs.
- Follows all posted precaution signs and transports patients to their destinations.
- Contacts clinical staff about changes in patient conditions or issues with patient equipment.
- Verifies and documents correct patient identification by comparing information from the ticket to ride to the patient's wristband.
- Tracks assignments using electronic software, documenting delays, cancellations, or completions.
- Collects and returns equipment to proper holding areas, disinfecting and inspecting transport equipment before and after use.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality of patient information.
- May collect patient equipment from soiled utility rooms and deliver patient medication, excluding controlled substances.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association within 6 months of employment, unless department leader determines otherwise.
- No formal education required.
- No prior experience required.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service.
- Satisfactory completion of safe patient handling for transporters within one month of starting the job.
- Ability to assess equipment status and determine optimal routes within the hospital.

Pay
$18.85 - $28.30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
3:00pm-11:30pm, every other weekend, and 2 holidays per year.
