About the Role
The Patient Advocate will work directly with the Director of Customer Experience to assist with patient and family concerns, acting as an intermediary for patient relations and customer experience. This role serves as a liaison between patients, their families, and the organization's departments and administration.
Responsibilities
Patient Advocate
- Greet patients, families, visitors, and staff upon arrival.
- Perform data research as assigned by the Director.
- Assist the Director with tracking various advocacy activities and distribution of materials and reports related to patient advocacy.
- Assess and maintain department supply inventories.
- Keep up-to-date information on patient status and communicate this to family members regarding patient status and visiting opportunities.
- Relay patient concerns to hospital administrators on behalf of patients and their families.
- Direct inquiries and complaints to the appropriate hospital/clinic staff.
- Explain the patient flow process to patients, their families, and visitors.
- Provide hospitable services to customers in waiting areas.
- Assist the Director with rounding for new in-patients.
- Assist with educating patients about the Patient Portal program.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Director of Customer Experience.
Volunteer Coordinator
- Oversee implementation of the volunteer program outline, including volunteer orientation.
- Manage dress code and uniform selection for volunteers.
- Ensure appropriate orientation to departments the volunteers support.
- Maintain records of volunteer hours.
- Develop and organize volunteer recognition programs and events.
- Organize and attend volunteer meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Licensure/Certification: None required, though a basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of related work experience in a medical field, preferably in a hospital setting, or 2 years of customer service experience.
- Proficient computer skills.
Schedule
Full-time day shift. Hours are negotiable and may vary to meet hospital needs.
