About the role
The Patient Account Representative plays a crucial role in the insurance claims processing and account follow-up process at Van Diest Medical Center. The position involves adhering to the Standards of Conduct, following infection control, safety, and hospital policies, and submitting all necessary paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Processes and follows up on insurance claims.
- Reviews accounts for accuracy and completeness.
- Works with Inovalon Claims Administrator and Work Queues daily.
- Handles late charges and adjusts accounts as needed.
- Communicates with patients and insurance companies regarding claims.
- Collaborates with the Financial Counselor to manage statement sequences and consolidate accounts.
- Refers complex issues to the supervisor.
- Participates in quality assurance activities and training.
- Aids patients with account inquiries and accepts payments.
- Contacts disruptive individuals to the Patient Accounts Manager.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and works efficiently.
Requirements
- Ability to speak, hear, understand, and write English.
- Strong customer service skills and high alertness.
- Computerized data entry experience.
- Effective communication and interaction with colleagues and the public.
- Previous insurance billing experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong math and problem-solving skills.
- Physical abilities to meet all job requirements.

Schedule
