As part of our Revenue Cycle team, you'll collaborate with clinicians and peers to ensure prompt payment of payer and patient accounts while developing your skills and growing your career.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with payers to follow up on outstanding claims and achieve timely reimbursement, including obtaining claim status, submitting reconsiderations, or submitting appeals.
  • Monitor and review denial reason codes to identify root causes; collaborate with payer contracting, other revenue cycle areas, and payer representatives to resolve issues.
  • Analyze data to track collection efforts, identify trends, and provide the team with updates and improvement ideas.
  • Monitor payer files for accuracy, ensure payer documentation is completed by follow-up staff, and assist in updating files with pertinent information.
  • Assist other follow-up staff in identifying high-risk accounts and prioritizing follow-up efforts.
  • Resolve accounts from other staff members’ workloads to prevent backlogs and fill in for absent staff as needed.
  • Maintain a superior understanding of claims management, third-party payer guidelines, state and federal regulations, and all other job functions; educate and train other follow-up staff as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality when handling patient information.
  • Work independently to resolve claims issues.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts, establishing goals with supervisors and tracking progress.
  • Offer suggestions to improve individual and team productivity.
  • Maintain a quality review score of 90% or greater on department quality reviews.
  • Assist supervisors in identifying departmental areas needing improvement.
  • Attend 1 or more UC Health training and development courses per year for self-development.
  • Maintain 100% or greater weekly productivity scoring and take responsibility for individual productivity standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate degree.
  • Minimum Required: 3–5 years of relevant experience in Revenue Cycle and/or Epic Revenue Cycle applications.
