We are looking for an experienced Patient Accounting/Finance Manager to provide financial leadership for a healthcare-focused organization in California. This long-term contract position will direct core finance activities while guiding billing and credentialing functions in partnership with senior leadership and the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger activity, payroll coordination, accounts receivable oversight, and timely month-end close processes.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans that support organizational goals and operational stability.
  • Prepare clear financial statements, analysis, and presentations for executive leadership and the Board to support informed decision-making.
  • Supervise finance-related teams, including billing and credentialing staff, while promoting accountability, accuracy, and efficient workflows.
  • Administer grants, contracts, and fund-based financial activity to ensure proper tracking, reporting, and use of restricted resources.
  • Coordinate audit preparation and maintain strong internal controls to support compliance with nonprofit, healthcare, and funding requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of Medicare and Medi-Cal cost reports and monitor adherence to 340B program expectations where applicable.
  • Ensure financial practices align with applicable government regulations and the standards of external funding agencies.
  • Support the effective use of accounting systems and financial reporting tools to improve accuracy, visibility, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, including leadership or staff supervision responsibilities.
  • Strong background in budgeting, financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end close activities.
  • Experience handling grants, contracts, or fund administration in a regulated or publicly funded environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit support practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and familiarity with accounting software used for financial oversight and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to leadership teams, governing boards, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in nonprofit healthcare, community health, Tribal 638, or other publicly funded healthcare settings is preferred.
