Responsibilities
- Aid in managing the month end and quarter accounting close activities for clinical related R&D accruals.
- Own the preparation and maintenance of monthly clinical tracker, ensuring expenses, prepayments and deposits, and accrual accounts are accurately captured and timely.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and related supporting workpapers in accordance with US GAAP and comply with our internal SOX requirements.
- Review the CRO budget tracker and incorporate appropriate estimates provided by CRO into the clinical tracker and ensure alignment with contractual obligations and study progress.
- Analyze contracts to ensure they are reflected in the proper POs, budgets, and/or work orders to determine the appropriate accounting treatments.
- Ensure invoices are recorded accurately against the appropriate POs, relevant budgets, and/or work orders.
- Prepare R&D Clinical fluctuation analysis and report on R&D clinical spend by subsidiaries, programs, phases as well as any other related account level analysis requested by management.
- Maintain regular communication with Clinical Operations to share financial findings and validate accrual assumptions, ensuring alignment with study progress and operational expectations.
- Participate in regular meetings with CRO and Clinical Operations teams to support a timely and transparent month-end close process.
- Assist on special projects and/or ad hoc requests, as needed.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA is preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a publicly traded company with Biotech/Pharma Industry.
- Highly preferred: combination of big 4 experience auditing R&D accounts in Biotech/Pharma clients and/or hands-on clinical accounting experience in the biotech/pharma industry.
- Proficiency in financial systems including SAP (or similar ERP systems such as Oracle and Netsuite), Coupa, and process advance Microsoft Excel skills (such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas).
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex Clinical vendor contracts and apply accounting judgment according to US GAAP.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of AI tools and technologies, with the ability to leverage them to automate processes and drive operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and results-driven individual with strong work ethic who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment handling different R&D (including clinical stage) programs across various affiliates.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to collaborate effectively cross-functionally with Outsourcing, Clinical Operations, FP&A and the business owners.

Pay
$120,000 - $165,000 USD
Schedule
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration 2-3x per week in our San Francisco Office.
