Patient Account Specialist- Customer Support-Remote

About the Role
The Patient Account Specialist supports patients by addressing billing and insurance inquiries and helping resolve account-related concerns. This role is essential to maintaining a positive and professional patient experience while supporting accurate and efficient financial processes. The position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of patient interactions.
Responsibilities
- Answer inbound patient calls regarding billing in a high-volume call center environment.
- Assist patients with billing questions and insurance inquiries.
- Process patient payments and establish payment plans.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Accounts Receivable team.
- Maintain courteous and professional interactions while representing the business office and clinical providers.
- Refer complex situations to team leadership for additional support.
- Perform other assigned duties and projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active listening, attention to detail, and effective multitasking abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues promptly.
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to participate consistently in routine check-ins.
- Quiet, distraction-free home workspace that complies with HIPAA requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software.

- Experience in a high-volume call center or medical billing environment.
- Previous experience in the healthcare industry.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $15.00–$16.00, depending on experience, background, and location.
