Patient Account Representative-Patient Accounting

About the role

Responsible for total patient account management to include billing, collections and reconciliation of patient accounts with Crime Victim compensation. Responsible for total-account-management to ensure charity allowances and/or other coverage is applied, as appropriate. These accounts are the representative’s responsibility from discharge until the account is reconciled as per payer contract terms and conditions and/or regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient accounts from discharge through reconciliation
  • Apply charity allowances and other coverage as appropriate
  • Bill, collect, and reconcile patient accounts with Crime Victim compensation
  • Ensure compliance with payer contract terms and regulations

Requirements

  • One year related work experience in a hospital, physician or medical insurance office
  • One year experience in medical/hospital billing and collections preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree preferred

Qualifications

  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred

Skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with computerized patient accounting systems preferred
  • Experience in medical management computer software preferred
  • Ability to accurately enter data and describe appropriate follow-up activity
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third party billing requirements preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel preferred) and keyboarding skills
