Patient Account Representative II

This is a full-time, remote position based in Missouri, requiring residency within 2 hours of the hospital location.

Schedule

• Day shift: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• 40 scheduled weekly hours

Responsibilities

• Process the insurance component of a patient’s obligation using third-party claims processing and payment rules.
• Bill claims appropriately.
• Follow up on denied claims by performing appeals and denial recovery procedures.
• Work denied claim lines and no-response claims to resolve outstanding accounts.
• Analyze and resolve credit balances on patient accounts.
• Respond to refund request letters from insurance carriers.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and participate in improvement plans.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• May review the work of others.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED or 10 years of work experience.
• One year of experience in medical authorization, coding, or health finance.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color identification.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information orally and to hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery.
• Frequent keyboard use and data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.
