*Patient Account Registrar Per Diem

About the role
The Patient Account Registrar interviews the patient or their representative to obtain patient demographics, secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable, and works closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator function and reception areas.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients or representatives to obtain and verify patient demographics
- Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations
- Operate a computer to input and retrieve data
- Communicate with diverse patient populations using age-specific techniques (neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics)
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology
- Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14)
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet required timelines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer service experience (required)
Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $20.34 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
