Patient Account Registrar
Responsibilities
- Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.
- Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
- Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
- Maintains proficiency in medical terminology.
- Operates a computer to input and retrieve data.
- Communicates with the population served, utilizing age-specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adulthood to geriatrics.
- Performs special projects or other assignments as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Multi-tasks, prioritizes needs to meet required timelines.
- Customer Services experience required.
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
Pay
A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $15.92 to $20.50. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
