Patient Account Registrar

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.
• Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
• Maintains proficiency in medical terminology.
• Operates a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicates with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
• Performs special projects or other assignments as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer Services experience required.
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $25.00 to $25.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
