Patient Account Registrar

About the Role

The Patient Account Registrar interviews patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics, secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable. This role works closely with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas. Responsibilities include operating a computer to input and retrieve data, communicating with diverse age groups from neonatal to geriatrics using age-specific techniques, and maintaining proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be assigned with specific deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or representatives to collect patient demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations.
• Collaborate with Admitting department teams, including PBX operators and reception areas.
• Operate computer systems to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate effectively with patients across all age groups using age-specific techniques.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or assignments within specified timeframes.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).
• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service experience (required).

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $16.20 to $23.01 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Schedule

Full-Time, Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM).
