Patient Account Registrar

Location: Dallas Medical Center - Farmers Branch, TX

Employment Type: Part Time (less than 60 hours)

About the role

The Patient Account Registrar (also known as a Hospital Admission Representative) collects and verifies patient demographic and insurance information while ensuring eligibility, benefits, and authorizations are accurately obtained. This role collaborates closely with the Admitting team and communicates effectively with patients across all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or authorized representatives to gather accurate demographic and insurance information
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and required authorizations
• Enter and retrieve patient data using computerized systems
• Communicate clearly with patients using age-appropriate techniques across all life stages
• Support Admitting department operations, including reception, PBX functions, and special assignments

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer service experience required
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14)

Schedule

• Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
• 8-hour shifts: 6:00am to 2:30pm and 2:30pm to 11:00pm (alternating)
• Part-time, variable shift
