This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) site-based role at the Phalen Clinic in St. Paul. The schedule is Monday–Friday, standard business hours 7:00 AM–5:30 PM (exact schedule TBD). Training for the first 4–6 weeks is 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
About the role
This Patient Access Specialist position provides exceptional patient experience and access for patients and families within Gillette clinic settings, serving as the first impression of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and families upon arrival to the check-in area.
- Provide quality, complete, and timely registration and check-in of patients while accurately obtaining and updating patient demographic and insurance information.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility using knowledge of insurance plans.
- Obtain signatures on required consent and intake forms.
- Consult with clinical teams as needed to resolve patient needs.
- Complete a wide variety of administrative tasks.
- Connect patients and families with on-site amenities and assist in clinic navigation for an optimal patient experience.
- Promote and enroll patients and caregivers in the appointment reminder system and MyGillette patient portal, explaining available functionalities.
- Support all inpatient admission and registration needs (St. Paul Clinic only).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience in customer service, administrative, or healthcare settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced education (Associate or Bachelor’s degree).
- Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge and understanding of commercial insurance carriers and standard insurance forms.
- Strong computer aptitude, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Demonstrated strength in customer service, organization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing needs.
Pay
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $21.00–$30.27 per hour, with a median wage of $25.22 per hour. Pay is dependent on factors including relevant work experience, education, certification, licensure, and internal equity.
