Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
  • Provide proper patient instructions, collect insurance information, and receive/process physician orders.
  • Utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls with compassion.
  • Meet point-of-service goals and use quality auditing/reporting systems to correct accounts.
  • Conduct audits to ensure forms are completed accurately and timely; provide statistical data to leadership.
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits via inbound/outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability details, including point-of-service collections and past-due balances.
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents (e.g., Important Message from Medicare, MOON form, Observation Forms).
  • Review eligibility responses and enter benefit data to support POS collections and billing processes for clean claim rates.
  • Accurately screen medical necessity using ABN software for Medicare patients and distribute ABNs as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI-driven process improvements.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company paid).

Pay

This position pays between $17.00 – $18.15/hr based on experience.

This is an onsite role at Mercy – St Joseph Warren Hospital in Warren, OH.
