Patient Access Specialist I

About the role

This position involves providing compassionate front-end patient access and registration services to support seamless revenue cycle operations. You will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring accurate collection of demographics, insurance verification, and financial clearance. Responsibilities include performing patient scheduling, check-in/check-out, collecting payments, educating patients on account details, and handling inquiries. You will assist in maintaining regulatory compliance, managing communication, and supporting clinical teams as needed. The role emphasizes delivering service excellence, teamwork, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect patient demographics, verify insurance, and support financial clearance
• Perform patient scheduling, check-in, and check-out processes
• Manage business office functions such as phone communication, messaging, and document handling
• Provide excellent customer service and support patient education
• Address account inquiries, resolve errors, and escalate issues when necessary
• Assist clinical teams with patient movement and transportation as needed
• Participate in ongoing education, compliance, and safety activities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
• Customer Service, Patient Relations, and Medical Accounts experience (preferred)

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of payer systems, insurance verification, and revenue cycle processes
• Ability to work with electronic medical records and handle sensitive information
• Physical ability to perform medium work and exposure to bodily fluids
