Job Description

As a Patient Access Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in scheduling appointments and managing patient interactions within the Northwestern Medicine system. Your responsibilities include responding to patient inquiries, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient questions and concerns
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
• Direct patients through the Northwestern Medicine system
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect authorization numbers
• Communicate with various hospital departments and physicians' offices
• Complete out-of-pocket estimations as requested
• Provide training and education as needed
• Manage work schedule efficiently
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Basic Computer Skills
• Ability to type 40 wpm
• Ability to multi-task
• Customer service oriented
• Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
