About the role

The Patient Access team plays a critical role in making that experience possible — helping patients move smoothly from referral to appointment while navigating insurance, authorizations, benefits, and financial requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage referrals & patient onboarding — receive, review, and process referrals while ensuring patient information and required documentation are accurate and complete
- Coordinate scheduling & appointment readiness — schedule patients and help ensure medical records, charts, and other requirements are ready before the appointment
- Verify insurance & benefits — confirm coverage, eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements for medical and infusion services
- Manage prior authorizations & precertifications — initiate, obtain, track, and follow up on authorizations with payers and providers to keep care moving forward
- Support patients with financial readiness — explain benefits, cost estimates, appointment preparation, and next steps while helping connect patients with copay assistance and financial support programs when needed
- Advocate for patients — identify barriers to care, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with clinical, billing, and operational teams to create clean, seamless handoffs
- Keep documentation accurate & compliant — maintain timely, detailed information in electronic systems while following payer requirements, organizational policies, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in patient access onboarding, authorizations, and referral management
- Infusion or specialty practice experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of ICD-10 coding and payer rules for infusion therapy
- Experience working with electronic health record and practice management systems
