About the role
The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for financial counseling, collecting co-pays and deductibles, and/or providing financial assistance education to patients and their families. They perform stat registering, scheduling appointments, completing registration by collecting and entering all pertinent financial and demographic information into the ADT system, verifying insurance benefit information, generating the ABN, reviewing orders for compliancy, completing MSP, obtaining financial and treatment consents, placing ordered medical procedures, and obtaining pre-certification when applicable while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Financial counseling and collection of co-pays, deductibles, and financial assistance education
- Stat registering and scheduling appointments
- Completing registration by collecting and entering financial and demographic information into the ADT system
- Verifying insurance benefit information
- Generating the ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice)
- Reviewing orders for compliancy
- Completing MSP (Medicare Secondary Payer) requirements
- Obtaining financial and treatment consents
- Placing ordered medical procedures
- Obtaining pre-certification when applicable
- Maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements

Education
- Minimum: High School completion / GED
- Preferred: Associates Degree in healthcare or related business field
- Must be proficient in Windows-based computer technology, including keyboarding and typing at least 25 wpm
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Medical Terminology certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience
- Preferred: Customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company experience
- Applicable class work may be substituted for previous work experience
Position includes weekends and holidays. Sign-on bonus eligible.
