About the role
The Patient Access Specialist position is part-time, working 30 hours per week. This role assists, engages, and screens potential and on-going clients to determine appropriate services while providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Delivers excellent customer service in accordance with company standards and takes appropriate action to resolve client needs on first call.
- Answers all calls professionally, engagingly, and efficiently, following Harbor's vision for service excellence.
- Transfers calls or takes written messages for proper delivery.
- Schedules appointments, discharges, follow-ups, cancellations, and referrals into the electronic health record.
- Enters and updates admission information according to Harbor policy.
- Completes necessary follow-up tasks and schedules referrals.
- Stays updated on trends and developments in essential job competencies and demonstrates continuous learning.
- Responds appropriately to crisis situations by referring to appropriate personnel.
- Attends team meetings and works from any assigned location.
- Verifies Medicaid insurance and directs clients needing additional funding to the Board of Mental Health.
Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in business or a closely related field, preferred.
- Previous data entry experience required.
- Excellent customer service skills required; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people.
- Flexibility, ability to multi-task, and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency and accuracy in computer use, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Adherence to strict client confidentiality standards and policies.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in business or closely related field, preferred.
- Experience: Previous data entry experience required.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills, clear and effective communication, flexibility, multi-tasking ability, and organizational skills.
- Technology: Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Confidentiality: Adherence to strict client confidentiality standards and policies.
