About the role

Patient Access Specialists serve as the initial point of contact for patients, their families, and referring providers. Their primary responsibilities include guiding patients through the visit process, gathering and recording necessary information, screening for eligibility, preparing patient information for clinical staff, answering questions, and providing administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and record necessary demographic, clinical, and insurance information to generate patient accounts accurately.
  • Screens patients for eligibility and prepares patient information for clinical staff.
  • Answers questions to ensure a smooth experience and troubleshoots access barriers.
  • Handles scheduling requests, reschedules or cancels appointments, and coordinates with care teams.
  • Verifies medical insurance eligibility and reviews patient referrals for accurate scheduling.
  • Assists patients by providing essential information from the internal knowledge management system.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Work Experience
