Manage the daily operations of a Patient Access department to implement process improvements and ensure safe, timely, and accurate patient flow.
Responsibilities
- Implement process improvement initiatives to achieve Conifer and client goals.
- Proactively identify areas of opportunity by collaborating with internal and external peers to meet metrics.
- Develop and implement action plans as identified.
- Practice budget and cost management.
- Understand and communicate all aspects of Patient Access, including technology, processes, and regulations.
- Manage staffing activities, including documentation, needs identification, staff selection, wage/salary activities, orientation, and training.
- Mentor supervisors and ensure staff engagement and commitment to strategy, mission, and goals.
- Communicate proactively with direct supervisor to support personal growth in knowledge and skill set.
- Work positively with Client Services to address client needs, concerns, and requests without negatively impacting efficiencies or operational flows.
- Proactively communicate and address issues that may impede performance, including technology or process-related challenges.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
Direct Reports: Manager or Supervisors, Patient Access
Indirect Reports: Rep, PA I-IV; Rep, PA Scheduler
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
- Ability to manage a budget.
- Proficiency in regulatory requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance.
- Ability to delegate successfully.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of management experience in a Revenue Cycle, Business Services, or Acute Health Care environment preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of Patient Access desired.
- Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work in a sitting position, use a computer, and answer telephones.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to walk through hospital-based departments across broad campus settings, including Emergency Department environments.
Work Environment
- Office and hospital work environments.
- Approximately 25% travel may be required.
Pay
$111,492.33 - $167,238.49 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience. Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
