Position Overview
The Patient Access Service Representative is responsible for the Dental School registration and check-in of all patients. Will create electronic charts with accurate demographic and insurance information. Rotate to the cashiering/check-out department when needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon check-in. Verify and update basic demographic information and insurance information. Ensure all necessary consent forms are completed. Verify coverage for patients with Wisconsin Medicaid using the Medicaid portal.
- Oversight and reconciliation of financial transactions by recording patient payments within the department's electronic health record system to support revenue cycle operations. Responsibilities include processing payment transactions, allocating funds to specific treatments, issuing receipts, calculating Medicaid copays, and reconciling the cash drawer and credit card batches with the daily deposit report.
- Answer incoming phone calls from the main Call Center and convey fundamental information regarding the Dental School. Transfer calls to appropriate clinics and departments as needed. Shared responsibility with other team members for checking and responding to voicemails.
- Register Medicaid and commercial insurance plans. This involves dialogue with patients to confirm accuracy of information.
- Create electronic charts with accurate data entry. Schedule new patient screening appointments. Confirm new patient appointments.
- Assist Radiology Coordinator in maintaining appointment schedules, assisting dental students with rotations and presenting New Patient screening orientations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- One year of customer service experience
- Accurate data entry skills and computer literacy with basic proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse populations
- Ability to work with little supervision and handle frequent interruptions
- Welcoming and friendly demeanor
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and understand the importance of collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in dental or health-related field
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking a plus
