Patient Access Representative (Temporary-Benefited/Full Time)
At Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, every patient journey begins with access to the right care at the right time. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play an important role in creating a positive and supportive experience for patients as they begin or continue their treatment journey.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key point of contact for patients, families, referring providers, and care teams
- Schedule appointments, diagnostic testing, and other pre-visit services
- Gather and accurately enter patient information
- Coordinate care-related activities to ensure a seamless patient experience
- Communicate with referring physicians and internal clinical teams
- Support hospital admissions and other patient access needs
- Verify insurance coverage and assist with financial clearance processes
- Help patients understand next steps and answer questions regarding appointments and access to care
- Ensure patients receive timely, professional, and compassionate service throughout their experience
Requirements
We're looking for someone who is organized, customer-focused, and passionate about helping others. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in patient registration, scheduling, or a similar healthcare support role
- Knowledge of insurance verification and/or basic financial clearance processes
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
- Confidence working with computer systems and entering data efficiently
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to providing a positive patient experience
Qualifications
- High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in patient registration, patient scheduling, or insurance verification; or
- High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and successful completion of a Patient Access Representative traineeship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
Note: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in registration/scheduling
- Insurance verification or basic financial clearance knowledge
- Exceptional customer service skills
