Patient Access Representative - PRN, Varies/Rotating

About the role

The Patient Access Representative facilitates all components of the patient's entrance into Mercy Hospital Southeast facilities, including scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients
• Verify patient insurance and benefits
• Pre-certify patients for services
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record
• Work under stress and meet deadlines
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and insurance companies
• Perform duties in accordance with Mercy Service Standards

Requirements

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
• High School diploma required; some college helpful
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Knowledgeable and experienced with various computers systems
• Ability to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard

Qualifications

• Physical requirements include pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting
