About the role

Processes patient preadmission and admission demographic and insurance data; enters information in the hospital computer system; maintains quality control for each preadmission and admission to insure accuracy of information; acts as liaison between patients, financial counselors and hospital patient accounting; ensures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Processes patient preadmission and admission demographic and insurance data
  • Enters information in the hospital computer system
  • Maintains quality control for each preadmission and admission to insure accuracy of information
  • Acts as liaison between patients, financial counselors and hospital patient accounting
  • Ensures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 1 year experience in customer service, health care or a business related field
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred
  • Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred

  • Ability to lift/lower objects 15 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
  • Ability to lift from 36 inches to overhead 15 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes
  • See and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance
  • Match or discriminate between colors
  • Determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
  • See and hear clearly
  • Perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements
  • Work in a latex safe environment
  • Be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
